Our Approach

The school's approach towards discipline is for every pupil to take ownership in ensuring exemplary conduct. The school believes that discipline is more than correct behaviour but an attitude that reflects integrity, responsibility, perseverance and teachability. Therefore, the reactive approach is used complementarily with the proactive approach to build up in every Fairsian the value of self-discipline. The school would also spot potential students at risk and approach them in order to help them.

We believe in being firm in discipline and yet will exercise love for the students we discipline. Harsh measures will be taken against any student who blatantly refuses to heed the school rules and the warnings. We also believe in following up with pupils who are being punished. Pupils who have been disciplined will also be referred to the Pupil Welfare Department for counselling. The purpose of the counselling is to help the pupil deal with the presenting problem and to be equipped with coping skills.

Behaviour Monitoring

A pupil spends most of his/her time in the classroom and it is also a place where academic learning takes place. In order to maintain a conducive environment for learning, we monitor every pupil very closely by maintaining a Class Management File. Form and subject teachers can use the file to record any offences a pupil might commit during curriculum time or while he/she is in school. If a pupil commits any major offences, he/she will be referred to the Discipline Master or Level Head, Discipline.

Collaboration
We strongly believe in working together with the parents in the discipline and follow-up process that a child goes through when he commits offences. Whenever a child commits minor offences, the Level Discipline or Form Teacher will inform the parents of the misdeeds so that the parents are in the know. This is done either through phone calls or through warning letters. In the case when serious offences being committed, the parents would be informed and a meeting will be arranged between the parents and the school to work out an agreement how we can help the child to correct his behaviour.
