"Fairfield Methodist Secondary School"
"Gold, with honours".. the announcement resonated.
Deafening screams erupted in the Singapore Conference
Hall, where the
Central Judging took place. Despite the announcer's
plea "Please refrain from screaming until all the
results have been announced", the Fairfield choir
jumped up and down in excitement, some even shedding
tears of joy and relief. They waited impatiently for
all the results to be read out before continuing in
their euphoria.
Gathering outside, the choir gave thanks to God, who
had really given them His blessings. Unable to contain
their excitement, some began calling up friends and
relatives to scream the news into the receiver end.
It had been a 6-month plus journey for the 80-member
strong Fairfield choir. For every single one of them,
the conclusion to this journey
could not have been any better. Despite the many times
of exasperation and tears, through all the up and down
times, the Fairfield Choir had done it again.
"If you ask me, it was an exasperating experience
with ups and downs. But it was all worth the effort
when we heard the results. I think you would agree with
me?" – Marcus Li, secondary 4C; choir student
conductor
"It was so unexpected, most practices we got so
much of feedback, yet we became one of Miss Lim’s
top choirs. So choir is quite exciting actually."
– Andy Leung, secondary 3B; assistant sectional
leader (Bass)
"I must say that they have done Fairfield proud
and that I will support them until the end!"–
Shaun Elijah Tan, secondary 1E; choir member
Indeed, the choir's hard work and perseverance have
paid off. Though they had to go through much rough times
and numerous practices throughout the December and March
holidays, I believe every choir member feels contented
and would agree that this was all worth it. It was truly
an unforgettable experience.
