Fairfield Methodist Secondary School

Back To Special Features' List

Screaming. Crying. Cheering. A cacophony of sounds filled the school hall. It was the 28th of February-the day that the ‘O’ Level results were going to be released.

It started off with Miss Elaine Lim, our principal, who gave a very motivating and inspirational speech. She spoke about

Dreaming of high target
Believing in oneself
Acting consistently
Working hard
Team - positively influencing one another and persevering
Achievement and excellence in orientation

Then the time came for the results to be given out. The first sound that broke the tension in the hall was
'I passed my Chinese!’
Yeah!
And we, journalists, got cracking.

‘I’m very happy for the sec 4’s and sec 5’s who have done well, as most of them have. The results have been very good and Fairfield is back where it should be. It is very heart-warming for me as well as for all the teachers to see the students being so satisfied with what they have achieved. The students worked very hard with their teachers and therefore they excelled.’ – said Miss Lim.

The crux of her message to the sec 4’s and 5’s is:
‘Dream big but work hand in hand with your teachers to achieve your goals. Whatever time you spent on your studies will make a difference. Believe in yourself and in your goal and work towards it. Your classmates create a world of difference as they can influence you to achieve your fullest potential.’

We interviewed the top Express student, Joanne He Xiu Wen from secondary 4A, and the top student from the Normal Academic Stream, Fang Pei Shan from 5A.
