The Fairfield English Drama team was set up in November 2003, breaking away from the previous CCA body, ELDDS (English Literary Drama and Debating Society).
So far, I think we have done a pretty good job! We managed to set up an impressive CCA booth during the secondary one orientation 2004 and our first achievement was clinching the top award in Cheerleading competition during Cross-country February 1994. Our "C" division girls and "B" division boys also won individual and team events. Our real test came in July 2004 when we put up an ad-hoc black-box production of the Silly Little Girl and the Funny Old Tree at the school’s old foyer.

In 2005, the SYF Drama saw Drama yet again challenging our members to stage a performance of the most demanding standards. Under the helm of Sherlyn Sim (3F 2004) and her committee, Drama aimed to climb greater heights and achieve what it had set out to do. Our re-staging and reinterpretation of The Silly Little Girl and the Funny Old Tree clinched the team a Silver award in Singapore Youth Festival, Drama 2005. It marked a beginning of a new era, spurring the new team on to better our results in year 2007. In Nov 2005, the Fairfield Drama again put up another play by local playwright, Kuo Pao Kun, Mama Looking for Her Cat.

In 2006, the Fairfield Drama team embarked on a diverse journey as the team worked on Story-telling for the Media Resource Library and put up 2 stories of fairy tales with an updated altered political point-of-view. Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, and Cinderella were interestingly performed in the Media Room of the MRL. In August 2006, after 3 months of intensive and gruelling rehearsing, under the artistic direction of Natalie Hennidge (CAKE theatre), musical direction of Hansel Tan, movement direction of Amice Lim and John Mead, the drama team and Fairfield Dance and award-winning Fairfield Choir collaborated on an extraordinary project known as A Bright New World, a Fairfield Musical. The Musical was performed at Victoria Theatre on 18th and 19th August 2006, and garnered rave reviews from our audiences.

Coming 2007, we welcome the new era as we forlornly say departure of Ms Hia Wanching, our assistant Teacher in-charge as she joins the Journalism team and embrace, Mr Firhad Rohani, into the Drama Ensemble. As we stride into 2007, The Fairfield Drama is working laboriously for the biannual Singapore Youth Festival (Drama, 2007). This time, the team will be putting up a matchless and unique piece of work written by our pupils. In addition, the Drama team will also be working on a script-writing course for non-SYF participants from February till August as they gear up to enter the annual Singapore Young Dramatist Award and 24-hour Playwriting Competition. Our newly recruited Secondary pupils will also be performing the best play selected from the playwriting workshop nearer the month of November. With the many activities planned in 2007, the teachers hope that the Drama team will scale new heights and accomplish higher artistic competency.
