Direct School Admission 2008 (Performing Arts)
APPLICANT ELIGIBITY Our selection panel seeks to identify students with high levels of ability and achievement in the following performing arts areas:
• Choir • Dance • Symphonic Band
Performing Arts Requirements Choir The applicant has represented the school in the SYF Central Judging and/ or in International Competitions and attained at least a Bronze Award. Preferably, the applicant has voice-training background. Dance The applicant has represented the school in the SYF Central Judging and/ or in International Competitions and attained at least a Bronze Award. Preferably, the applicant has received training in Dance. Symphonic Band The applicant has represented the school in the SYF Central Judging and/ or in International Competitions and attained at least a Bronze Award. Preferably, the applicant has attained the minimum of Grade 5 in piano or able to play a musical instrument well. Important Point to Note: Applicants who have scored an average of at least 60% for all subjects for Primary 4, 5 and 6 will have an advantage.
SELECTION PROCESS 1. Trials cum Interview Short-listed candidates who meet the above criteria will be notified to attend a selection trial and interview. 2. Supporting Documents: Applicants may include the following supporting documents: • Relevant certifications and record of achievements.
WHEN TO APPLY You may send in your application form together with all the required supporting documents to FMSS via post or in person during the following period: • 12 May – 7 July 2008
TRIALS AND INTERVIEW DATES Selection trials and interviews will be held at FMSS during the following period: • 23 June – 16 August 2008 The information for selection trials for all Choir and Band is as follows: Date                     :  30 June 2008 (Monday) Time                     :  3.00 – 5.00 pm Reporting Venue :  School General Office Attire                   :  School Uniform The information for selection trials for Dance is as follows: Date                     :  02 July 2008 (Wednesday) Time                     :  3.00 – 5.00 pm Reporting Venue :  School General Office Attire                   :  School PE attire All selection trials will be conducted in FMSS. All applicants attending the selection trials are requested to bring along the Student Pass for identification purposes.  Applicants for DSA (Band) may bring the respective instrument for the selection trial if they wish to.   Successful candidates from the selection trials will be informed of the details of the interview a week after the selection trial. Another selection trial session will be conducted on 14 July 2008 for applicants who missed the first selection trial session.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES All applicants will be informed of DSA selection results via mail by 29 August 2008.
