Interview With Robyn Lee (Sec 5A)

  Leadership is Serving Others . . .

Integrity, nurturing people with potential, showing recognition and building up trust are some aspects of a good leader. Student leaders play an extremely crucial and important role in the school. They must have the ability to rise up to the occasion to set good examples for other students to follow as well as to show, guide and lead them in the right direction. A student leader must have the true desire to serve humbly, at all times. A leader must also empower, navigate, understand, listen and have faith, so to earn the respect of fellow students.

It is my pleasure to introduce to all of you, one such student leader, FMSS's Head Councillor for Discipline. She is none other than Robyn Lee from Sec 5A.

Interviewers: Could you please give us a brief of your duties as a Head Councillor, Discipline?
Robyn : My duties are basically to ensure that the school's standard of discipline is high. I have to oversee the morning assemblies. As to looking into the area of discipline - in terms of behaviour, attire, cleanliness and attendance, I have to ensure that school rules are adhered to and booking for offences is done fairly.
Interviewers: How do you feel about being selected as a Head Councillor, Discipline?
Robyn : I was shocked, as I did not expect the position. I also felt that I would find it difficult to cope with my studies. But all my teachers gave me the support and encouragement, and told me to go for it, as it would be a great opportunity for me to develop my potential, as a leader.
Interviewers: What does `leadership' mean to you?
Robyn : Leadership is not about the number of achievements. But I believe it is the skills that are developed, in the course of duty. It is not about pushing around, but it is about serving others.
Interviewers: What are your main concerns or fears, when you took up the leadership
position?
Robyn : I was afraid that I might not be able to perform as expected, or that I might take the wrong decisions.
Interviewers: What do you hope to see happening in the school, in three to four years time?

Robyn : I sincerely hope that all Fairsians will rise to a high standard of leadership and self-discipline, which is required of them. This will develop their leadership skills, which will in turn help them gain respect in society.
Interviewers: What is your vision for FMSS?
Robyn : I want all Fairsians to excel in all aspects of life.
Interviewers:

What qualities and attitudes do you want to impart in your fellow councillors?

Robyn :

I hope to see my fellow councillors becoming more responsible, self-disciplined and as great people with sound values. They should also know 'when to work hard, and when to play hard'.
